At this moment in history, we face profound challenges—technological upheaval, political polarization, climate change, and a mental health crisis that touches every community. Psychology has never been more needed, but it must also evolve. I understand the growing needs of psychologists across careers and settings. I recognize the importance of maintaining high academic standards while making our field more accessible and inclusive.
I have lived psychology at every level—globally as President of The Psychology Coalition of the United Nations, nationally as President of APA’s Division 12, and locally as President of the Illinois Psychological Association.
I have seen the role psychology plays in shaping global policy, conflict resolution, and human rights. For the first time, we will be hosting a Psychologists’ Youth Mental Health Global Summit at the UN Headquarters in New York.
If nominated and then elected as President-Elect of APA/APASi, I will be a steady and calm hand, guiding our field forward with both vision and pragmatism.
Bringing psychological science to the forefront of societal change
We are at the pivot in our history with monumental changes happening within our society. Specifically, mental health policy, marginalized populations, AI and technology ethics, combating misinformation, and climate resilience.
